What the XML Sitemap Checker Reviews

An XML sitemap should give search engines a clean list of the pages you want discovered and indexed. This checker compares sitemap entries with the live website and looks for signals that can weaken that relationship, including broken URLs, redirected entries, duplicate URLs, noncanonical pages, noindex directives, and pages that appear to be missing from the sitemap.

A healthy sitemap is not a guarantee of rankings, but it makes the site easier to understand and maintain. When old URLs remain in the sitemap after pages move or disappear, search engines may repeatedly request addresses that no longer represent useful content. Likewise, important live pages that are omitted can lose one useful discovery signal.

How to Use the Results

Start with broken and redirected sitemap URLs because those entries usually have the clearest corrective action. Then review indexing warnings, canonical inconsistencies, duplicates, and missing-page counts. The public checker reports the number and category of detected concerns without exposing the exact repair map. That keeps the free tool useful for diagnosis while leaving detailed remediation for a full SEO review.

After sitemap changes are made, run the checker again. A clean result should reflect the URLs the website actually intends search engines to crawl and index, rather than historical pages, temporary addresses, or alternate versions of the same content.
